Tesco Bank is creating more than 20 jobs in the North East after selecting North Tyneside as the home for its new technology hub.

The new tech centre will be based at Quorum Business Park and Tesco Bank is now looking for staff to work at the site.

Commenting on the new technology hub, Tesco Bank’s chief information officer Derek Tucker said: “This is an exciting time for Tesco Bank and our Quorum office, building on our long relationship with the city and support for the economy in the North East.

“To better meet the changing needs of our customers and create value, we continue to grow and transform the bank and this investment will be a key part of this.

“There’s a rich knowledge base in the region and we know we can attract the right talent here that will help take our customer offerings to the next level. Working at Tesco Bank will give the opportunity to work on some leading edge and innovative projects, as well as being part of a leading global brand.”

Next year Tesco Bank is celebrating its 10th anniversary in North Tyneside, where the company is a major employer. Currently the firm employs more than 700 people at its customer service centre at Quorum.

Tesco said that the new staff will be offered competitive salaries as well as flexible working options, as well as discounts in Tesco stores.
